About Me

Meet The Seasoned Vegan

Seasoned adjective

sea·soned [ˈsēz(ə)nd]

1. having a lot of experience  doing something and therefore knowing how to do it well

Hi and welcome to The Seasoned Vegan!

I’m Becky, a dog obsessed nutrition nerd and lover of all things simple. I became a vegetarian in my twenties but my cooking skills were limited to spaghetti noodles and chocolate chip cookies.  Out of sheer hunger I began to experiment in the kitchen, eventually acquiring enough skills to raise five children on a vegetarian diet.  Those were mighty busy times and I relied on eggs and dairy products to produce quick meals that (mostly) everyone would eat.  When, at age 17, my middle daughter decided to become vegan, I felt like I was starting over as a cook.  If there were no eggs and no cheese, there might be no dinner!  I began to school myself on the basics of vegan cooking and discovered the secret to remaining vegan: SIMPLICITY!

I’m here for you, whether you’re a fledgling or an ace, to help you discover simple vegan cooking at its best.

IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR DELICIOUS & NUTRITIOUS RECIPES THAT…

  • contain no meat, dairy or eggs
  • are simple to prepare
  • use easy to find ingredients
  • appeal to vegans and meat-eaters alike
  • and won’t break the bank

THEN YOU’VE LANDED AT THE RIGHT PLACE!

Have a look around, I think you’ll like what you see.  And please stay in touch!  I love  hearing your comments and try to respond to each one.

A Little More About Me…

I’m a midwestern born and bred gal, but love visiting the Pacific Northwest where two of my adult children live.

I’ve had a number of jobs over the years: accountant (not really my thing), mom (more of a volunteer job), organic farmer (harder than you think), small business owner, school cook, and group home staff for individuals with developmental disabilities.

I’m a mom to five biological children, but have been known to take in “strays”.  I love them all!

Speaking of strays, there have been many of those in canine form over the years.  Currently, I’m a dog mom to three big sweet souls.

I’ve been married to the same man for 39 years, and he still keeps me laughing (though sometimes not intentionally:).

I love a good, strong cup of coffee.

My favorite meal is that vegan one that comes together quickly from ingredients I have on hand and still tastes amazing!
